About Josh

Josh was our first-born child and the light of our lives. When he came into our world, we felt whole and complete--like a family for the first time. We falsely assumed that we would have the rest of our lives to watch him grow.

Josh looked just like his daddy with brown hair and beautiful, big, blue eyes. He loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and playing in the bathtub. His life was rich with activities from music classes and swimming lessons to walks and trips to the park. He could say “ma”, “dada”, “ball”, “fan” and “dryer”, most of which were taught to him by his very proud daddy. He had a very curious mind and would hold and study all aspects of new things.

The most special aspect of Josh’s personality was his ability to completely and freely give of himself. We lived for our first morning hugs, our many in between and our last one at night. To so many other people (often times strangers), he reached out his little arms in a gesture of love. Once picked up, he would wrap his arms around them and lay his head on their shoulder. His hugs and cuddles are what people remember most of Josh—they are what we miss the most.

At 15-months-of-age, Josh was on the verge of so many new adventures, skills and accomplishments—all cut too short. By hosting Josh and Gus’s Run For a Reason, it is our goal to work toward preventing the tragedy of SUDC for future families. It is also an opportunity for us to share with you the lives and legacies of these two very special little boys. From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for your participation in Josh and Gus’s Run For a Reason.

Sincerely, The Goves

Jake, Tami, Jonathan, Jeffrey and our sweet Angel Josh
